Sony Bravia KDL52W4100 Review from Amazon.com

This is IMHO the best quality HDTV for comparable specs. Sony’s Bravia 52W4100 is slightly more expensive than other brands but the quality is definitely worth it.

As far as Sony TV, you can get the XBR model for slightly better quality but I don’t think it’s worth the extra money.

My first impression after I first turned it on was WOW! The picture is so beautiful and bright so you can watch easily during the day. You can set the option for the TV to auto-adjust using ambient light which works very well. Watching previously seen DVDs via the this TV is like watching brand new movies…this I compared against watching on a 1080i 37″ non-Sony HDTV that I already have for almost a year. Picture contrast, brightness, color, etc. comes with preset modes like Vivid, Standard, Custom and Cinema. You can change any of these to your liking. You can easily reset Vivid, Standard and Cinema back to factory setting.

The TV frame is high gloss piano black and comes with the stand pre-assembled. If you want to mount it on a wall, you will have to remove the stand first. For some reasons, the SONY logo lights up and stays lit when you turn the TV on. It is neat and attractive for the first few minutes but soon it will bug you. Luckily you have the option to set it to OFF. In this case, it will light up for about 30 seconds.

The audio is pretty good for a TV but I prefer listening via my audio system. For this, the Sony TV has a tos-link optical output that I prefer.

The KDL 52W4100 ‘W’ Series only has one 75ohm coaxial antenna input…so if you want to hook up both your HDTV antenna and your cable antenna, you will have to buy a switcher. Switching back and forth is a huge hassle in my opinion. This was why I only gave 4 stars.

Otherwise, I’m absolutely in love with this TV.
